Position #1: Receiver/Inventory Wrangler
Position Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the incoming product for our stores, across our retail and warehouse locations. The person in this position will receive boxes from couriers, unpack shipments and reconcile them against publisher invoices, and enter the inventory into our computer systems in a timely fashion. This is a position that requires lots of attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. The person in this position will be required to liaise with booksellers at several locations in order to prioritize their work in a way that aligns with the needs of the business as a whole.
The person in this position may occasionally be assigned regular retail sales/customer service duties. Additional tasks and responsibilities may also be assigned.
Position Requirements/Qualifications
- retail experience, especially in comics or books
- heavy lifting
- familiarity with excel
- general knowledge of and interest in comics/graphic novels/manga
- proactive communication skills
In addition, the following are assets
- -driver’s license
- -proficiency in (a) language(s) other than English, especially French or Japanese

Position #2: Library Services Associate
Position Description
The primary responsibility of this position is selling comics, graphic novels, and manga directly to school and public library customers, both in person and via email. This is a people- and product knowledge-focused position that also requires a great amount of attention to detail. The Library Services Associate will be able to assess the suitability of books for different ages, reading levels, and different types of libraries. In addition to working with librarians and educators, the successful applicant will regularly work at Little Island Comics as a bookseller.
Position Requirements/Qualifications
- retail or sales experience (especially in comics or books) and/or library/education experience
- heavy lifting
- familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- general knowledge of and interest in comics/graphic novels/manga/childrens or YA books
- proactive communication skills
- driver’s license
In addition, the following are assets
- proficiency in (a) language(s) other than English, especially French or Japanese
- qualifications/degrees in Information Studies, Library Science, Library Technology, Education
This position could be full- or part-time for the majority of the year, but is full-time during November, April, and May, and subject to a complete vacation blackout during April and May.
