TCAF: Complete Events Listings!

TCAF is The Toronto Comic Arts Festival, a week long celebration of comics happening in the city of Toronto. This will be our biggest and best year yet, and we wanted to do a straight-ahead detail of everything going down next week, so you didn’t miss out. We hope all of you reading this get to participate in TCAF in some way through these events!

A massive gallery installation of Giandelli’s work

The Italian Cultural Institute is proud to present a retrospective exhibition of Gabriella Giandelli. On exhibit over 80 original drawings of one the most prolific Italian illustrator and graphic novelist, including the celebrated series Interiorae. The artist will be in attendance. Opening remarks by Gianni Bardini, Consul General of Italy. Free to attend.

The Art of Spiegelman
USA / France 2009, 43 min. Director: Clara Kuperberg & Joelle Oosterlinck
Spend some time with comic book artist, and Maus creator, Art Spiegelman. In this intimate documentary, Spiegelman evokes rich childhood memories as a son of Holocaust survivors, and reflects on his development into a key figure in the underground comics movement, the evolution of  his seminal work, Maus, and more.

In the Shadow of No Towers
USA 2011, 53 min. Director: Marco Cappelli
A powerful and experimental adaptation of Art Spiegelman’s graphic novel recounting his first-hand experience at ground zero on 9/11, as well as his grief and disillusionment that followed in the days and years afterward. Narrated by John Turturro. Guest: Director Marco Cappelli
