Earlier this week the medium lost a phenomenal cartooning talent, Spain Rodriguez. His achievements, including co-founding Zap Comix, and really helping to define the Underground Comix movement, are numerous and well-recounted in this excellent tribute at The Comics Journal.

We’re fortunate that we got to work with Luminato to bring Spain to Toronto in 2008, for the release of his graphic novel “Che: A Graphic Biography”. For many, it was their first chance to meet the man in the flesh, after inviting him into their homes so many evenings as he more-or-less starred in the documentary “Comic Book Confidential”, played often by CityTV. He was a good guy.
