THURSDAY NOVEMBER 21 @ THE WESTON FAMILY LEARNING CENTRE @ THE AGO!
Lynda Barry is an American cartoonist, author, and teacher known for her weekly comic strip Ernie Pook’s Comeek. A professor of interdisciplinary creativity, she appears to discuss Making Comics, her idiosyncratic curriculum that teaches people how to draw and write their own story. A beautiful and inspiring book whose core teaching is that creativity is vital to processing the world around us. Lynda was also one of the recipients of the 2019 MacArthur Foundation ‘genius’ grant!
Chris Ware is an American cartoonist known for his Acme Novelty Library series and the graphic novels Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth and Building Stories. His works explore themes of social isolation, emotional torment and depression. He appears to discuss Rusty Brown, a fully interactive, full-color articulation of the time-space interrelationships of three complete consciousnesses in the first half of a single midwestern American day and the tiny piece of human grit about which they involuntarily orbit.
Free tickets to this event will go live FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST at 5:00PM! In addition, a number of tickets are available with the purchase of RUSTY BROWN or pre-purchase of MAKING COMICS at The Beguiling (1 ticket per book purchases, while quantities last)
