We’ve just received a couple of really cool looking bookings from Portland’s own Floating World Comics: Field Studies by Aidan Koch, and D.I.Y. Magic by Anthony Alvarado.
Following up her dreamy books The Whale and The Blonde Woman, Koch presents Field Studies, a collection of 90 drawings done between January and November of 2012. “Taken as a whole they form an illustrated essay – a year in the life of an artist on the road,” says the publisher. Copies are $13.00, and you might have to fight me for one.
Next up is D.I.Y. Magic, a book about magic as, “a state where the mind lets go of the normal way of being and is opened up to an experience of existence as a whole that is bigger and without time.” Holy cow! If that doesn’t sound awesome enough, this book also features plenty of interior illustrations by the likes of Ron Rege Jr., Malachi Ward, Aidan Koch, Inés Estrada, Farel Dalrymple, Lala Albert, and many more. $13.95. Come get it.
