The Beguiling, Little Island Comics, and Page & Panel: The TCAF Shop, are all participating in FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2015, on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, from 11am-5pm. All three comic shops are going to have free comics to give away, both the ones from this year and remainders from previous years as well! We’ll have special guests too! Details TBA.

The Beguiling will be giving away comics intended for an older teen and adult audience, Little Island will be giving away comics for kids and young adult audiences, and Page & Panel will be giving away books where TCAF exhibitors have work in them! You’re welcome to grab between 3-5 books from each location, while supplies last.

cf_cover_finalAs a special note, TCAF and The Beguiling made their own official Free Comic Book Day comic this year. It’s called Comics Festival 2015! It features work (mostly) appearing for the first time in print, by Kate Beaton, Svetlana Chmakova, Cory Doctorow & Jen Wang, Gillian Goerz & Mariko Tamaki, Zac Gorman, Dave Roman, and a cover by Isabelle Arsenault (seen to the right). It’s super great for readers who like good stories, and in particular we wanted to create something that teen girls and boys could enjoy, as those sorts of books tend to be missing from those available at FCBD usually.

112027 cover v2 4C_OK-Proofs.pdfAs an extra special note, The Beguiling overprinted 10,000 copies of Comics Festival with an alternate cover, and is distributing them free to all Toronto Public Library branches for Free Comic Book Day. Neat, huh? Free comics for everyone!

Finally, please remember that this is a holiday designed to get new folks reading comics! If you’re headed out for FCBD, why not bring a friend, a young relative, or someone who’s never read comics before? Get them hooked on the medium!
