Oct 18: grow: THE ART OF KOYAMORI LAUNCH EVENT!

Thursday, October 18 we’re excited to welcome Koyamori to the store to celebrate the launch of their first collection, grow: The Art of Koyamori!

This event will be a bit of a different setup– Koyamori will be in-store starting at 3PM doing a live-drawing event in our gallery space! We’ll be projecting the artwork onto a screen so you can hang out and watch to your heart’s content before grabbing your very own signed copy of grow!

SEE YOU THEN! This is going to be amazing!

“This is the first art collection by the young Canadian artist/illustrator Koyamori (also known as Maruti_Bitamin). Over the past five years, she has gained attention through regularly sharing her fascinating illustrations on her Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter accounts. This work has been collected in grow and accompanied by a selection of specially created new illustrations.

Using mostly watercolor ink, Koyamori’s highly imaginative but intimate illustrations incorporate colorful natural elements such as plants, creatures, water and stars, and also feature super-cute manga-inspired characters. A reversible dust jacket includes the cover from the Japanese edition on the reverse side. Both covers are new illustrations exclusively drawn for this long-awaited book.”

SEPTEMBER 22: POW POW PRESS AT THE BEGUILING!

The fourth and final volume of the Almost Summer series will be available in bookstores on September 13th and Pow Pow Press will be celebrating its release with a book launch in Toronto! Join us at The Beguiling on September 22nd for an evening with the Pow Pow crew. Sophie Bédard will be there, alongside Michel Hellman (Nunavik), Cathon (Vampire Cousins) and publisher Luc Bossé!

“Almost Summer strikes a perfect balance between drama and comedy, chronicling the daily life of a group of teenagers. In this final chapter, Anthony is looking for an apartment while Michelle is looking for a prom dress. Matthew is trying to make sense of his own feelings while Emily is trying to assert herself. High school is almost over. But you know what they say: it’s not over till it’s over. And even then, it’s not really the end.”

This event will kick off at 7PM! There’ll be a presentation and talk along with a Q&A and a chance to get your books signed! See you there!
