Starring Audrey Tautou (Amélie) and Romain Duris (The Beat My Heart Skipped), the film is a surreal love story based on a cult novel by Boris Vian, injected with the trademark whimsy that Gondy’s come to be known for, which even the director himself has admitted that it’s a word he doesn’t truly understand: “Sometimes it means its good, sometimes it’s bad, I mean, what the fuck?”
