Hey folks! The only sale we’ve had in 2008 is this Boxing Day Sale, so we hope you’ve saved a little bit of money for it. Full details were sent out to everyone on our mailing list two days back! If you didn’t get our e-mail, check your spam filter and add us to your safe-senders. Or, make sure you’re actually signed up!

GROUND RULES
1. We reserve the right to refuse sale of any item to any customer for any reason.
2. We will probably not do this, but you’d be amazed at the number of people who insist that certain things are on sale when they’re clearly not, so yeah, rule #1 (“no, the original art is not 50% off”.). Honestly, none of us can remember having to do this. We’re good people, deep, deep down. 🙂
3. Out-of-print books, comics, anime, statues, etc, are exempt to sale pricing.
4. Anything put on hold prior to Boxing Day is entirely exempt to sale pricing.

ALSO: BACK ISSUE BINS and WALL BOOKS will not be accessible for these three days. They are not on sale, they aren’t even really FOR sale. We are sorry, but we’re focusing on other product during this sale and we need the space and attention for other things. We will be having a sale on these items in early 2009, it is worth your time to wait a few weeks.

CLASS COMICS: New Stuff and a Complete Re-Stock!
Due to some distribution troubles, we haven’t had any new comics or portfolios from gay comics publisher Class Comics in a little while. Well everything’s sorted out and we’re now ordering directly from the publisher, which means we might even have issues before Diamond ships them out! The newest stuff we’ve received is Tug Harder #1, Angelface #1, Ismael Portfolio #1, Rainbow Country #2, Striptease #1, and Zahn #1. We’ve also done a complete re-stock of titles like Pornomicon (it’s just like it sounds) and Porky by Logan, portfolios by HVH & Mike, and all of Patrick Fillion’s series. All comics are now priced at their cover-price of $9.

You can check out previews and more at the Class Comics website, http://www.classcomics.com/.

That’s 120 pages packed cover-to-cover with furry girls, guys, herms and more, all in full, shiny, fantastic color! If you haven’t yet taken a peek inside the Club Stripes website, BoCS: Strange Bedfellows is a great sampler platter to try out.

Milk Presents: Greek Fire, $8.95
The very first of the Milk Presents series collects the popular and porny “Nestor” stories by Phil “Poinko” Gibson and Shon Howell! Follow the hilarious and horny adventures of Nestor, who strives to be a mythological hero- and who ends up banging all manner of mythical maidens along the way! Minotaurs, demon-babes, oracles, dryads, no curvaceous callipygian cuties are safe when this hero starts swinging his mighty “weapon”. Silly sexy fun, from two of the hottest talents in Milk!

Dog’s Days of Summer Graphic Novel, $34.95
Diego the dingo spends the better part of his days in the company of his local friends, trolling the popular Bendigo Beach for tourists and one-night-stands. However, with the near limitless possibilities before him and the sudden reappearance of his ex-boyfriend, Diego finds himself struggling to make up his mind and sort through his conflicting feelings. Originally a webcomic, the first half of the story developed as readers directed the main character’s actions through a weekly multiple-choice poll. This full-colour graphic novel will appeal to furry fans of all… stripes.

COMIC AG ISSUE 94 and much more, $4.99+
Where would we be without ComicAG magazine? Every two weeks like clockwork, the fine folks at Icarus Publishing send us a brand new installment of their Japanese hentai manga anthology, COMIC AG. Always high-quality and probably the best value in comics (each issue is 80 pages for 5 bucks!) it arrives like clockwork. We love you, COMIC AG.

We’ve also just re-stocked all of the graphic novel collections of the series’ serialized in COMIC AG magazine and published by Icarus Comics. COMIC AG can be found on the second floor, and the trade paperback collections are usually located on the first floor.

Bonus: If you’re “curious” about COMIC AG, just ask at either Cash Register for a free sampler. We usually have some lying around, we’d be happy to pass one your way.

COMIC AG publisher Icarus Comics has an amazing blog at http://www.icaruscomics.com/wp_web/, you should check it out.

Much, much more has come in over the past few months, but I think you get the idea. We’re always happy to help or, when possible, special order material for you. Let us know. And Happy Holidays!

CONTEST: HARAJUKU LOVERS FRAGRANCE SET

We’ll admit, it’s a little strange for us here at The Beguiling to be giving away a set of perfume (perfumes?), but this is a pretty cool perfume.

Pop singer Gwen Steffani just released a set of signature perfumes in her “Harajuku Lovers” apparel line. It’s a collection of five perfumes, each inspired by Gwen and a member of her crew, and each bottle is actually shaped like the little chibi-versions of the ladies. Check it out:

We’ve got a set of all five fragrances in the 30ml/1oz size, with a retail value of more than $250 (perfume is expensive, yo!). They’re going to make an amazing last-minute gift for whoever wins them. Speaking of which, here’s how you can win:

RULES

  1. Subscribe to The Beguiling’s events mailing list. You can subscribe at http://www.beguiling.com, in the upper-right corner of the page. Winner must be subscribed to The Beguiling mailing list for the duration of the contest to claim their prize.
  2. Send an e-mail to chris@beguiling.com with your name, telephone number, and “HARAJUKU LOVERS” in the subject line.
  3. Send that e-mail before Monday, December 22nd 2008 at 11:59pm.
  4. Winner will be determined by random draw on the morning of Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008.
  5. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older (sorry kids, get your parents to enter for you). 5. Only one entry per household.
  6. Odds of winning depend on number of entrants, but are roughly 250:1.
  7. Not open to residents of Quebec because they’ve got pretty harsh rules about this sort of thing.

The winner will be contacted Tuesday morning. Good luck!

Kramers Ergot is the name of the groundbreaking comix anthology that has taken up the tradition of Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly’s RAW MAGAZINE in bringing the most innovative, challenging, and beautiful comics work to the masses… and volume 7 is the greatest yet! This massive new tome includes brand new comics from some of the world’s greatest living graphic novelists, and this December several of the contributors will be in Toronto to officially launch the new book!

Kramers Ergot Volume 7 is sure to top many critics’ Best Comics Of 2008 Lists, thanks to its all-star line-up of contributors including Seth, Chris Ware, Shary Boyle, Andrian Tomine, Dan Clowes, Ivan Brunetti, and Gabrielle Bell to name just a few. But equally as stunning is the book’s presentation: Kramers Ergot Volume 7 is a massive 16 inches by 21 inches in hardcover, with each contributor offering up an original double-page spread of brand new work for the book. Kramers Ergot Volume 7 will make its official debut at this launch event, and will not be available in stores before then. It is sure to be in short supply this holiday season.

“People are focusing on the enormous size of this book, and with good reason,” says Peter Birkemoe of The Beguiling. “But the sheer talent assembled into this volume, from established names and friends of The Beguiling like Seth and Shary Boyle, to relative newcomers including John Pham, that’s what will have people lining up for this one.”

The Kramers Ergot Volume 7 Tour will feature appearances by series Editor and contributor Sammy Harkham, as well as Shary Boyle (Otherworld Uprising), Kevin Huizenga (Ganges, Curses), John Pham (Sublife), Ron Regé Jr. (Skibber Bee Bye), Souther Salazar (Destined for Dizziness), and Seth (Palookaville, Clyde Fans) and publisher Alvin Buenaventura. At 7:30PM the contributors will be interviewed on stage by The Beguiling’s Peter Birkemoe, and a signing will follow. Doors open at 7PM.

The event will be held at the beautiful new event space ‘918’ located at 918 Bathurst. A former Buddhist Temple, the space is a classic A-frame building located just a block north of Bathurst Subway station and 3 blocks from The Beguiling.
