Little Island Comics is happy to welcome Eric Orchard to the shop for the launch of his new young-readers graphic novel Bera The One-Headed Troll! Eric is one of our favourite Canadian comic creators, and one we were lucky enough to host for a celebration of his previous book, Maddy Kettle: The Adventure of the Thimblewitch, and at long last he’s got a new book for us to celebrate!

Fans old and new are welcome to come to the launch, which will feature a presentation by Eric as well as drawing activities for kids. We will also have some of Eric’s Maddy Kettle art on display, showing off just what his lush artwork looks like before it’s printed as a book!

Good news everyone! Our good friend Sammy Harkham is bringing the tour for the release of the brand new KRAMERS ERGOT 9 to Toronto on Tuesday, June 14th! We’ve been fortunate to work on a number of great Kramers events with Sammy over the years, including volume 4, volume 6, and volume 7, not to mention lots of great visits to Toronto for TCAF.

The confirmed list of participants at this evening’s event is:

Michael DeForge
Sammy Harkham
Kevin Huizenga
Patrick Kyle
John Pham

That’s an incredible line-up! But a bunch of great cartoonists and friends will also be in attendance, as the make-up of the Kramers Ergot anthologies spans an incredible array of cartoonists and visual artists. It’s basically The Place To Be tonight.

The utterly gorgeous Kramers Ergot 9 is now available at The Beguiling (and will be available at the event tonight!). It is so much nicer than any sort of digital photo can capture, come see it in person a.s.a.p.!

Our thanks to Coach House Books for helping set this up!

Praise for Ken Sparling:
‘Discovering Ken Sparling’s work changed everything I knew about writing. It made me realize that a novel could and should
be just that – novel, that that was the point of writing, of life. Reading his work felt like permission to be myself the way that he was his self. Reading Ken Sparling reminds you that you’re free.’
